Job Summary
As a Documentation Technician you assure that relevant software documentation prepared by development teams is proofread and timely published for our customers. In your everyday work, you will need:
- technical skills (to learn and use Edlund’s publishing toolset)
- communication effectiveness (to talk with Teams’ members about the scope and content of the documentation needed to be published, Release Managers about the timelines, etc.)
- English language excellence (to proofread documentation, in a way, that customers will understand it).
You will mainly work with release notes, software requirements, guides, customer documentation websites, and others. You will work from Warsaw, Poland, serving our Dannish and Polish colleagues, distributed across the two countries.
Responsibilities and duties
As a Documentation Technician, your main responsibility is to ensure our documentation is published on time via a solid tool chain. This entails:
- Publishing documentation according to agreed release cycles and deadlines.
- Reviewing/proof reading and minor adjustments to content in collaboration with internal and external content suppliers (primarily product owners/developers).
- High-level proofreading documentation in English for our software products.
- Participating and help drive development and implementation of our documentation strategy.
- Contributing to the further development and use of documentation tools and standards.
- Driving further automation and digitalization in the documentation processes.
- Collaborating with testers, release managers, product owners, product managers, and developers on end-2-end documentation flow.
Qualifications
You have professional experience with writing content for software products targeted at both end users and technical users. Your qualifications include:
Need to have:
- Working knowledge of Git and PowerShell (or similar tools), Markdown and MadCap Flare.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
- Basic understanding of programming/scripting languages is desirable.
- Structured mind, eye for detail and consistency.
- Innovative and curious to seek how we can work smarter.
- Fast learning.
Nice to have:
- Understanding technical concepts and describing complex content.
- Experience software product development and/or reviewing/writing software product documentation, like manuals or instructional materials for online use.
- Proficiency in using the MadCap Flare authoring tool.
- Familiarity with software documentation standards and guidelines, such as the Microsoft Manual of Style.
- Knowledge of software documentation processes end-to-end.
- Knowledge of graphical design and video recording is an advantage.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar position.
- Background in the pension, insurance or banking industry.
- Certificate in English.
